History of Mysore Silk

Mysore silk sarees have a rich history dating back to the early 20th century when the Maharaja of Mysore established the silk factory to promote local weavers. The sarees are known for their distinctive sheen, fine weave, and use of pure silk yarn sourced from Karnataka.

Over the decades, Mysore silk has evolved while retaining its heritage. Traditional motifs, bright colours, and gold zari borders are hallmarks. These sarees are often certified with a Silk Mark to guarantee authenticity, preserving the cultural legacy of South Indian weaving.
